Agapanthus
When we were first approached to tissue culture Agapanthus, I must
admit I was extremely apprehensive. Is there a market or high demand
for a plant like this? Using carefully selected material from plants
and seeds I went ahead with the initiation, my apprehension was
still there. When the time came for the planting out trials of these
extremely hardy and versatile plants, I wondered why I was concerned.
The results far exceeded the expectations of these plants.
The outcomes of these trials detail the advantages of using Agapanthus
tissue culture?
- There is none of the seeding variability.
- You can be more selective to get the best plant.
- They are readily available in volume.
- Micropropagated, Agapanthus plants gives more constant uniformity
of plant sizes.
