Freight
and Dispatch Information
Benson Micropropagation (BMp) dispatches all
of our plants in polypropylene containers (tubs). There are 34
plants per tub (3 tubs is 100 plants, plus 2 for overage). There
are three sizes of tubs that we use, all have 120mm diameter,
depending on how tall the plants grow in vitro we use the most
appropriate of the 3 heights available;- 80mm (C20), 60mm (C16)
or 45mm (C10).
At BMp we do all of our dispatching for Australia on Mondays
unless it is a public holiday in Queensland, then we dispatch
on Tuesday. This gets the plants to our customers by mid week
to enable them to be planted out before the weekend. We do not
change this schedule. Invoices are enclosed with the shipment
and a copy is faxed to the customer with the name of the freight
company and the consignment note number.
Overseas orders are dispatched on the most appropriate
day i.e. for the US we dispatch on Friday, so the plants are ready
to go through quarantine on the Monday morning. As each country
is different, we have the flexibility to adjust
our dispatch days.
By reducing the temperature of the shelves in the growth room
BMp is able to reduce the relative humidity in the culture vessel.
This makes the plants better able to cope with the trauma of the
move from in vitro to in vivo conditions. When
the plants leave BMp they are ready to plant-out. Some of our
customers have left plants in the dispatch containers with the
lids off for a few days after they arrive in an attempt to help
them acclimatise. BMp does not recommend doing this with our plants.
Plant them out as soon as you can.
The plants are shipped in specifically made boxes, (as in the
photos).
We have three sizes;-
330mmx610mmx370mm which holds 60*C20s (2,000 plants) or 75*C16s
(2,500 plants)
230(200) mmx490mmx370mm which holds 36*C20s (1,200 plants) or
