| Metrocideros
- Tahiti
Metrocideros Tahiti is a dwarf selection of New
Zealand Christmas bush that only gets to 1mt by 1mt. It
is a difficult plant to propagate from cutting, as it can take to
3 to 4 months to produce roots; this has restricted its availability
on the Australian market. The photo of plants in 100mm pots is of
an internal plant-out trial we did. These plants were planted out
3 months previous. We are a micropropagation laboratory not a plant
nursery, they should have gone into full sun at 4 weeks and probably
been tip pinched a month ago, but the vigour of the plants is obvious.
- It looks great in a pot on the patio, with its new grey foliage
and masses of orange-red blooms in late winter and spring
- It works equally well toward the front of a garden bed
- Ideal low maintenance plant for the garden or pots
- Can be mass planted for a low border around a garden or along
a pathway for a stunning effect
- Micropropagation will produce a fuller more rounded finished
plant than cutting propagated plants.
