Your

We are regularly approached
by nurseries interested in using us to micropropagate different
plants for them.
There are a couple of things that need to be
remembered.
• Micropropagation is an expensive way of propagating plants,
compared to seeds or easy to strike cuttings.
• It needs a considerable amount of work by experienced scientists
to get plants free of micro-organisms and growing well in vitro.
Once the cultures are established, they need to be sub-cultured
on a regular basis (usually every 4 to 6 weeks) to keep them alive.
• Some plants cannot be micropropagated due to contaminating
(micro-organisms living inside the plant), while others can prove
too difficult to micropropagate commercially.
• The bulk of our production goes onto the Australian market,
where there is a peak demand in spring/summer. If your plant is
only wanted in that period it is not a very attractive proposition
to us.
• The ideal plant for us has a consistent year round monthly
demand. This enables us to maximize quality and consistency at minimal
cost. The next best has an autumn/winter peak.
• We need orders for 2,000 plants per month (per variety)
before we take on a new product. If you do not have that demand,
some of our other customers may be interested in making up the numbers.
• For contamination control reasons we do not allow cultures
from other laboratories into our laboratory under any circumstances.
• If your requirements do not fall within the above guidelines,
we may not be able to help you.
